CLAIM: The Board wastes money on a lawyer

FALSE

TRUTH: We've saved nearly $190,000 in legal fees over 2 years, and the district spends significantly less on legal fees per student than other school districts in central Ohio.

CLAIM: The Board is going to segregate Special Education and ESL (English Second Language) students!

FALSE

TRUTH: The Board joined multiple highly respected professional organizations to receive different perspectives and data on best practices for creating tailored learning classrooms for students needing extra support.

CLAIM: The Board ended the lawsuit that was against parental school choice.

TRUE

The previous Board spent $44K per year to be in this lawsuit. This Board believes parents have the right to choose the best educational option for their student and ended this wasteful taxpayer spending. The district still receives a portion of funding even for students they no longer educate.

CLAIM: The previous Superintendent was forced to retire and now we are having to pay him his salary plus the new superintendent's salary.

FALSE

TRUTH: The previous Board created a clause in the old superintendent's contract that allowed him to retire early with full pay. He chose to retire and was not forced out. This is why the district had to pay 2 superintendents for one year. The current Board did not approve this arrangement in the new Superintendent contract.

CLAIM: The Board is giving the Superintendent 5% raises every year.

FALSE

TRUTH: The current superintendent is paid an average salary compared to neighboring districts and those of our size. He does NOT get compounded 5% raises, but rather a chance for a 5% bonus for that year if ALL goals and metrics are met. This does not increase his base salary each year.
